Receipt book, 1817-1857.

Receipt book, 1817-1858, recording expenses for taxes, vulture feathers, a piano and lessons, fees to Valentine Mott for the medical training of Vaché's son Alexander, water, pew rent, subscriptions, etc., to 1833, after which the receipts pertain to various expenses of his heirs. Laid in are some receipts and notes of interest paid to members of the Vaché family, 1865-1875, and visiting cards of Charles T. Henry, one describing him as the great grandson of John Vaché.

Valentine Mott was an American surgeon and medical professor in New York City. He graduated from Columbia College, where he later became a professor of surgery; he also had a very successful private practice. He spent 1834-1841 in Europe.
